YCSO Spearheads 2025 New Year's Eve Tri-City DUI Task Force

YCSO hosted a Dec 31st multi-agency Tri-City DUI Task Force operation which resulted in nine DUI arrests, in addition to many other arrests and citations.
The average Blood Alcohol Content of those arrested was .014, nearly twice the legal limit.
We thank DPS, Prescott PD, Prescott Valley PD, and Chino Valley PD for partnering with us in this important enforcement effort to ensure public safety.

π‚πŽππ†π‘π„π’π’, 𝐀𝐙 – The situation began just before 6:00 a.m. on December 31, when the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office (YCSO) received a concerning call. The caller stated that he had to go to work and told the authorities that there were kids at the house.

2026 Begins With 3 Simultaneous Search and Rescue Incidents

The new year began with a series of Search and Rescue (SAR) incidents in poor weather on Jan 1st, including one where an injured hiker had to spend the night outdoors with SAR volunteers.
The most complex call came for a hiker who suffered a serious leg injury off Bumble Bee Rd southwest of Sunset Point. Hampered by bad weather, it ended the next day with the help of a military Blackhawk aircraft.

YCSO K9 Unit Receives Donation From Local Resident

Every December, local resident Wendy Skaggs holds a fundraiser for the YCSO K-9 unit. Once again this year, a nice donation came to the agency from the event, and was presented to Capt Winfrey, whose long-time K-9 partner and family fixture, Gemma, passed away over the weekend.
