Visitation

The video visitation platform will greatly increase opportunities inmates have to visit family and friends while decreasing the amount of inmate movement in the jail necessary for face-to-face visitation. An additional option allows an inmate visit without the need to drive to either the Camp Verde or Prescott Detention Centers. Online internet video visitation will allow inmate visitations by any standard internet connection for a small charge. Click on the link below to find out more.

On-site:

Camp Verde: Inmate visits at the Camp Verde Detention Center are conducted in a specially constructed building that houses video monitors. It is located adjacent to detention center parking.

Prescott: Inmate visits at the Prescott Detention Center are conducted inside the new facility.Check in at the Sheriff’s Office public lobby adjacent to the flagpoles.

Visitation times are Monday through Friday from 12:00 pm – 3:30 pm.* Visits must be scheduled at least 1 day in advance or as far out as 14 days in advance and can be completed online by clicking the link below or in person at the detention center during visitation hours. There is no charge for on-site video visits.
*Please remember, there are no on-site visits on holidays.

All visits are limited to 20 minutes per session.

Send Mail to an Inmate

Hand written or typed letters , approved electronic messages and approved publications sent via approved methods and in compliance with the below restrictions will be accepted and distributed to inmates housed within the Yavapai County Jail. Packages other than approved publications sent via an approved method will not be accepted!

Step 1.HANDWRITTEN OR TYPED LETTERS MAY NOT INCLUDE ANY OF THE FOLLOWING:

  • Polaroid type photographs
  • Blank paper and envelopes
  • Photocopies
  • Prints from the Internet
  • Staples
  • Stamps
  • Post Cards
  • Newspaper or magazine clippings
  • Laminated items
  • Magazines or periodicals (This includes items that have been printed from the internet.)
  • Greeting cards (Exception: Christmas cards are limited to three (3) greeting cards per inmate, from December 1st through December 31st of each year.)
  • Correspondence on stationary or colored paper (Exception: yellow “legal pad” paper)
  • Correspondence scented with perfume, cologne, or any other fragrance
  • Handwritten correspondence written with:
    • Any substance other than pencil or blue or black ball point pen to include:
      • Gel ink/roller ball
      • Crayon
      • Paint
  • Typed correspondence printed in any color other than black ink
  • Correspondence containing:
    • Inflammatory materials
    • Sexually oriented or pornographic material
    • Glitter
    • Stickers
    • Adhesive
    • Tape
    • Unknown stains/substances (ex:grease, lipstick,etc.)

Any mail containing the above items will be rejected in it's entirety and placed in the inmate's property.

Step 2.PUBLICATIONS:

  • All Publications must be:
    • Shipped directly from a recognized publisher, distributer or authorized retailer
    • Paperback and may be restricted due to excessive size and/or weight
    • Pre-paid. Cash on Delivery (COD) orders will be rejected
    • Agreed to by the recipient by way of acceptance of the “Inmate Publication Advisory” provided upon delivery of each publication
  • Publications may not include the following:
    • Staples
    • Laminated contents
    • Inflammatory materials
    • Sexually oriented or pornographic material
    • Product samples or promotional items
    • Calendars
    • Glitter
    • Stickers
    • Adhesive
    • Tape
  • The following will not be considered publications and will be rejected:
    • Dictionaries
    • Puzzle or word books
    • Coloring books
    • Catalogs

All forms of mail are subject to search and may be rejected for a number of reasons. All rejections are documented and the recipient notified of the reason for rejection. A sender may informally appeal the rejection of mail to the Housing Services Bureau Commander by contacting the Eastern Detention Bureau within 7 days of receiving the rejection notice at Yavapai County Sheriff's Office

  • Inmates are allowed to make telephone calls from their housing areas.
  • Messages are not taken for inmates, except in verified emergency situations.
  • Incoming calls for inmates are not allowed, except in verified emergency situations.

Bonds may be posted in person 24 hours a day at the Yavapai County Jails in Prescott and in Camp Verde, during business hours at the court of jurisdiction, or through GovPay. To post a bond through GovPay, see information below.

Send Care Package to Inmate

Yavapai County Sheriff's Office has recently partnered with Aramark Correctional Services as our new inmate commissary provider. Family and friends will still be able to send care packages to their loved ones with our new partner. This new system will be activated July 7, 2022 and the first orders will be delivered the week of July 10, 2022. Please view Aramark's iCare Package program for additional information.

We do not accept checks or money orders through the mail. If an individual wishes to deposit money on behalf of an inmate, they may do so by using the services offered through SECURUS Technologies.
