YCSO Special Crimes Unit Arrests
YCSO Special Crimes Unit Arrests
Published on January 15, 2026
The Yavapai County Sheriff’s
Office (YCSO) Special Crimes Unit (SCU), in partnership with the Prescott Valley Police Department, has been working diligently together to stop the flow of dangerous drugs and to combat weapons offenses involving dangerous drugs in the town. The joint effort has conducted around 50 arrests and seized several firearms alongside significant quantities of illicit narcotics.
This collaborative effort is targeting criminal hotspots and addressing rising concerns involving drug activity and violent behavior. Recent High-Profile incidents include:
On December 31, deputies conducted a traffic stop on a driver at Florentine Rd and Lake Valley Rd. Despite being on probation, he was found in possession of a firearm. YCSO K9 alerted deputies, and cocaine was discovered. The male, a prohibited possessor, was booked on multiple felony charges.
On January 1st, around 8 pm, a YCSO Deputy conducted a traffic stop in the Castle Canyon Mesa area. The vehicle was occupied by three. YCSO K9 conducted an air sniff of the vehicle, resulting in a positive alert. A search of the vehicle located 8 grams of methamphetamine, 1 gram of fentanyl , and paraphernalia. This resulted in the arrest of passenger James Campbell.
In a separate incident on January 3, a stop involving Breanna Wolcott (22) led to a positive alert by a YCSO K9. Wolcott was found to have concealed Fentanyl on her person. She now faces additional charges for tampering with evidence and introducing contraband into a jail facility.
On January 4, a traffic stop at Manzanita Trail and Tapadero led to the discovery of approximately 18 grams of Fentanyl, empty bindles, and a digital scale. After a YCSO K9 alerted to the vehicle. The three suspects, 39-year-old Corey Cockrill, 33-year-old Matthew Mathieson, and 31-year-old Ashley Gregg, all from the Phoenix area, were arrested and booked for Possession of Narcotics and Paraphernalia.
On January 2, deputies responded to a welfare check in Castle Canyon Mesa. A woman was discovered unconscious in a bedroom with a 10-month-old child present. Narcotics and paraphernalia were found scattered across the floor. She was arrested for Child Abuse and Narcotic Possession.
