YCSO ARRESTS MAN FOR STALKING AND TERRORIZING BAGDAD MINOR BAGDAD, ARIZONA ( June 27, 2023) – On the evening of Saturday June 24th, YCSO arrested 35 year old Michael Herren of Bagdad for stalking a minor boy not known to him. At approximately 6:30 pm, the mother of the boy reported that a red Ford Explorer drove past her house in Bagdad and tried to get her son to get into his car. The mother stated it was the same vehicle from her call to deputies two days earlier where a man had approached her son and his friends stating, “You guys are gonna get kidnapped", then following her son home terrifying him. Despite two days of searching, YCSO deputies were not able to locate the vehicle from the first report. However, on Saturday evening at 5:30 p.m., the mother reported the suspect stopped his car and attempted to talk with her son again. The boy’s brother witnessed the event and stated he heard someone inside the car say "Hey little buddy" before the brother yelled at the boy to run. When the boys told their mother what happened, she got into her car and was able to follow the vehicle. She was unable to get a license plate because of how fast the car was driving, and she eventually lost it on Campwood Road. When deputies arrive at the scene, they asked the mother if she saw the driver. She had and described him as white with dirty blonde hair and a mustache and goatee. The boys confirmed the description. Deputies spotted the vehicle on Campwood Road later that evening where they began following it. Once the vehicle came to a stop, the deputy approached the driver and informed him that YCSO had received report of a vehicle matching his speeding through town. The driver denied knowing anything about speeding. During this time, another deputy took pictures of the car and texted them to the mother who had reported the crime. She identified the car from the photo and described the suspect to the deputies again. The description matched that of the driver – Michael Herron. Deputies returned to the suspect and advised him that he was being detained as he and his vehicle matched the description of a person who had been stalking a child. Deputies texted a photo of Herren to the mother, who identified him as the man who had scared her son. Herren was taken into custody and booked on a class 5 felony charge of stalking.
