22-year YCSO veteran Jarrod Winfrey has been promoted to Captain. He was sworn in by Sheriff David Rhodes at a ceremony attended by co-workers, family and friends.

Capt Winfrey has served in a myriad of roles at YCSO, including Detention Officer, Patrol Deputy, K-9 Sergeant, Narcotics Sergeant, and Lieutenant over PANT and over Administrative Services. He pointed to the help of many people behind the scenes, and said he appreciates the good advice and direction of many co-workers over the two decades he has served with the agency.

Sheriff Rhodes told the gathering that Capt Winfrey was a critical part of YCSO recovering from a large staffing deficit just a few years ago to nearly full staffing now. Among other things, that staffing recovery allowed the opening of the new Prescott jail facility. The Sheriff said with many new to the agency in recent years, Capt Winfrey's ability to "set a culture" is vital to helping them. He said, "You are a good ambassador for the profession, the badge, and the agency. You've always worked hard and got things done. This is a big job, and you've earned the position."

Capt Winfrey's co-workers complimented him, saying "He is an amazing guy and deserves to be here" and "He will continue to bring light and progress to the agency".
