On Wednesday morning, the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office (YCSO) led a multi-agency Governor’s Office of Highway Safety (GOHS) speed enforcement detail across the Verde Valley. The operation placed a special emphasis on Cornville Road, a corridor that has seen a high volume of citizen complaints and traffic collisions.

Despite challenging weather conditions, deputies and officers from across the region maintained a strong presence in the Cornville, Cottonwood, Camp Verde, Rimrock, and Lake Montezuma communities to enhance roadway safety.

The detail was a joint effort between YCSO, the Prescott Police Department, the Prescott Valley Police Department, and the Chino Valley Police Department. The concentrated enforcement resulted in the following:

· Total Traffic Stops: 85

· Civil Speed Citations: 56

· Criminal Speed Arrests: 5

· Other Criminal Arrests: 2

This detail was organized in direct response to concerns voiced by residents regarding speeding and reckless driving. By targeting these areas, YCSO and partners aim to reduce injuries and save lives on Yavapai County roadways. YCSO thanks the GOHS for helping make this successful detail possible.
