Just after noon on June 23rd, Yavapai County Sheriff Deputies were called out to a report that a 73-year-old man had shot his 82-year-old wife at their home in Cornville. He then stated he was planning on killing himself next. As deputies attempted to contact him, YCSO SWAT and the negotiating team were called out.
Unable to reach him, the SWAT Team then entered the home. Tragically, both the male and his wife were discovered to be deceased. Initial investigation revealed that the man wanted to kill his wife and then himself due to their health.
YCSO extends our condolences to the family and community of both individuals.
