YCSO PROMOTES TWO DEPUTIES TO THE RANK OF SERGEANT

YCSO has two new Sergeants after a pair of deputies were promoted at a ceremony held in Prescott on December 16th.
Matthew Barton and Darrell McClintock were sworn into their new positions by Sheriff David Rhodes, who commended the men for stepping up into leadership roles. Sheriff Rhodes said the agency always looks to promote from inside its own ranks, and he told the gathering, "My desire is to have every future Sheriff of Yavapai County groomed from within the agency." The Sheriff himself started with YCSO 30 years ago, and gained several promotions before being elected to office.
Sgt McClintock, who has over 15 years of law enforcement experience, thanked his family for their sacrifice over the years. As he put it, "They have to bear the wrath sometimes when it hasn't been a good day and there's the missing out on family events too." He started with YCSO in 2022 as a lateral transfer from another agency. He worked for the Partners Against Narcotics Trafficking (PANT) task force and was the YCSO Certified Deputy of the Year in 2023.
Sgt Barton began with YCSO in 2011 as a Detention Officer. He has served in Forest Patrol and SWAT during his tenure, among other assignments. He told the gathering of co-workers, friends and family that he has grown from his many experiences in law enforcement and pointed to the impact of others on his life. As he put it, "I could not do this without my family and the trust and support of so many people here."
