THE ADVENTURES OF LOKI
NEWEST MEMBER OF THE K-9 UNIT MAKES HIS FIRST ARREST. MISSES OUT ON PIZZA WITH KIDS.
On June 20th, K9 deputy Loki and his partner Deputy C. conducted a traffic stop on I-40 eastbound near Ash Fork, Arizona just before 8 am. The deputy, sitting in a marked car, noticed a vehicle traveling too fast and dangerously too close to the car in front of it, so he pulled the vehicle over. There was a passenger and two children in the car with the driver.
While asking the driver and the passenger questions about their travels, the answers were contradictory and the driver was unable to give consistent answers, therefore raising the Deputy’s suspicions. When asked if there were any illegal drugs in the vehicle, the passenger answered no, but the suspicious behavior of both adults triggered Deputy C. to have his partner Loki use “his world-class sniffer” on the car.
Loki’s response was “According to my senses, I believe there to be illegal narcotics in this vehicle”. Narcotics were in fact found in the car – 2.2 pounds of cocaine and1000 Adderall pills, and one handgun - prompting Loki to say that he “would now like recognition as the best K9 deputy in YCSO”. Deputy C. reminded Loki that one success did not make him the best, but in typical Loki fashion, he shrugged off the comment and took a selfie with his cache.
The two men were arrested for transportation of a narcotic (cocaine) drug for sale, possession of drug paraphernalia, transportation of a dangerous drug for sale and child abuse.
Deputy C. took the two children, approximately 7 and 8 years old out for pizza while they waited for the Department of Child Services to return the boys to family members.
Loki, having to continue working, showed up to his shift the next day with a shirt that reads “I made a drug bust, but all I got was this lousy t-shirt and not the pizza I deserved”. Maybe next time Loki. Maybe next time.
