The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office (YCSO) is investigating a homicide following a shooting near the intersection of Del Rio Drive and State Route 260 in Cottonwood.

Approximately 3:20 pm, on October 29th, Deputies arrived and found medical crews providing life-saving care to an adult male victim. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital, but tragically, he was pronounced deceased.

So far, the investigation indicates the incident began after the victim and the suspect — identified as 53-year-old Henry Greer of Cottonwood — parked their vehicles next to each other on Del Rio Drive. At which point, the victim, Greer, and Greer’s passenger got out of their vehicles, and a physical altercation ensued. During the confrontation, Greer produced a firearm and fired multiple shots, striking the victim twice.
Following the initial investigation, YCSO detectives arrested Greer on a charge of First-Degree Homicide.

This remains an active investigation as detectives continue to process evidence and gather witness statements. No additional information is available at this time. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Yavapai County Sher
