YCSO Dedicates Substation To The Memory of Sgt. Lopez

On June 28, 2022, Yavapai County Sheriff's Office Sgt. Rick Lopez was gunned down and lost his life in the line of duty while trying to apprehend a suspect. His sacrifice is still felt throughout the agency and in the community. Everyone misses his dedication to serving the public and his large, generous heart, and we honor him today and always.

On June 28th, 2026, Family, Friends, Fellow Law Enforcement, and the Community gathered together to dedicate the Black Canyon City YCSO Substation in honor of "RLO".

"He has left a legacy; He has left something for us to hold on to."
