SUPERBOWL SUNDAY DUI ENFORCMENT

PRESCOTT ARIZONA (February 13, 2023) –The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office took part in a DUI Enforcement Detail yesterday on Superbowl Sunday. This special detail was conducted county-wide and in conjunction with the Tri-City DUI Task Force. In total, three Deputies joined the Department of Public Safety (DPS), Prescott Valley PD, Prescott PD, and other community partners to ensure safe roadways before, during, and after yesterday’s game.

Deputies kept busy, conducting 24 total traffic stops resulting in 6 speeding citations, 3 civil citations, 1 child restraint seat citation, and 1 DUI Arrest. The child restraint seat citation came after the Deputy observed the child hanging outside of the window while the vehicle was in motion on HWY 69 near Prescott Lakes Parkway. The two adults in the front seat did not notice that the child was not restrained and mentioned that this is an ongoing issue. In addition to the citation, the Deputy made sure to share the dangers of not being properly restrained and made sure the young child promised to keep his seatbelt fastened.

Additionally, Deputies responded to a single vehicle collision which resulted with a DUI Arrest. The male driver failed to negotiate a curve. He stated that his dog bit him, and he fell asleep which caused the crash. Deputies noted signs and symptoms consistent with impairment and followed up at the Verde Valley Medical Center to continue the ongoing DUI Investigation.

As always, your Deputies are working hard to ensure safe roadways for all travelers, residents, and visitors. Please remember to Slow Down and Buckle Up!
