YCSO K-9 UNIT GETS GENEROUS DONATION, HELPS IN DRUG BUST
Published on January 04, 2024
The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office K-9 unit received a generous donation from a local resident and a local business.
Wendy Skaggs spearheaded a Winter Craft Fair before Christmas at the Pine Ridge Mall in Prescott and donated proceeds from a raffle for various craft prize boxes. The event raised $500 which was then matched by her employer, Improvement District Services of Prescott.
Wendy presented the checks totaling $1000 to Chief Deputy Jeff Newnum and members of the unit, including K-9 Skye. Chief Newnum said the office is grateful for the donation and praised the K-9 unit for its hard work throughout 2023, including a large drug bust on Interstate 40 in northern Yavapai County on Dec 27th. Four San Antonio, TX residents were apprehended on various felony counts and more than 160 pounds of marijuana was confiscated from their vehicle.
If you would like to donate to YCSO you may contact the office at 928-771-3260 for more information. Besides the K-9 unit, donations to the Employee or Benevolence funds would be greatly appreciated. These go to assist YCSO employees in time of need during health or family emergencies.
