SELIGMAN MAN JAILED FOR REPEATEDLY STABBING DOG

Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office (YCSO) deputies say a Seligman man was jailed for felony Animal Cruelty Dec 29th after allegedly stabbing another person’s dog multiple times.

A YCSO deputy on patrol late that night noticed Seligman Fire Department personnel rushing to a local residence. Upon investigation, the deputy learned that 44-year-old Michael McGuire had been at a local bar with his roommate and left the establishment by himself to return home. When the roommate arrived home a short time later, he saw McGuire attacking the dog, tried to intervene, and the two got into a fight. The roommate told deputies the large dog belonged to McGuire's ex-girlfriend, and he was mad that she never returned to pick it up.

Seligman Fire personnel said the animal was stabbed at least 15 times and had to be euthanized. McGuire was booked on the felony count and a misdemeanor charge of Disorderly Conduct.

SEARCH AND RESCUE PERSONNEL FIND MISSING MAN

YCSO Search and Rescue (SAR) personnel located a 30-year-old Surprise man several miles from his crashed vehicle in the pre-dawn hours Dec 29th.

Dispatch received the original alert via a 911 text from an Apple watch. Deputies found a single-vehicle rollover accident site on Castle Hot Springs Road, northwest of Lake Pleasant. When the driver could not be located, nearly 20 SAR volunteers and a DPS helicopter began a search. It culminated several hours later when the man, apparently seeking help, was found walking about five miles away.

He had suffered only minor injuries and refused medical treatment. He was taken back to Surprise by family.

CORDES LAKES MAN ARRESTED FOR ASSAULT

A Cordes Lakes resident was jailed on a felony charge of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon after allegedly hitting another man in the head with a large rock.

A YCSO deputy was flagged down by the victim and noticed the head injury. He was directed to the residence of 62-year-old David Giardina. After attempts to get the suspect to come out of his home, Giardina finally exited the residence, but then resisted the deputy’s efforts to take him into custody. He was eventually arrested and booked into jail on three charges, including the felony count.

TEENAGER SERIOUSLY INJURED IN QUAD ACCIDENT

A 15-year-old Prescott Valley area resident was airlifted to a Phoenix hospital Dec 28th after a quad accident in a field near his home in Coyote Springs.

YCSO deputies say the boy was likely going too fast when he attempted a jump and lost control, crashing into a metal fence. He suffered neck and chest injuries. His condition was not released. Another teen who was a passenger on the quad escaped serious injury.
