The Yavapai County Board of Supervisors has approved a contract for the incoming Sheriff’s Office Public Affairs and Government Relations Director, Megan Fitzgerald. Sheriff David Rhodes said the contract agreement “will bring on board someone with tremendous experience who will greatly add to our community and government relations.” Megan Fitzgerald’s experience includes being a former advisor to Arizona Governor Doug Ducey on Public Safety and Cybersecurity, and most recently, the Director of Government Relations at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Prescott. YCSO’s past Government Relations director successfully brought in millions of dollars from the Arizona Legislature which financed new Human Trafficking detectives and hiring bonuses for YCSO deputies, detention officers and dispatch personnel. He said with Fitzgerald’s experience in high levels of state government, the funding success should continue. The Sheriff says Fitzgerald will enhance his agency’s relations with the community, the local governments in Yavapai County, and she will be a great asset for media communication strategies. Welcome Megan!
