YCSO WELCOMES THREE NEW LATERAL TRANSFER DEPUTIES TO THE AGENCY

YCSO officially welcomed to the agency three new lateral transfers from other states at a ceremony on September 4th in Prescott.
Steven Clustka, Kyle Lunde, and Matthew Milligan were sworn in by Sheriff David Rhodes at a gathering of family members, friends, and fellow YCSO personnel. The Sheriff told the three, "We are very grateful that you are on this mission with us. Yavapai is a fast-growing county, and we are always looking for good people to join us. In my 30 years here, this has been a fantastic agency to work for."
Milligan came to YCSO from Denver, while both Lunde (San Bernardino) and Clustka (Petaluma) came to the agency from California law enforcement backgrounds. All three had to obtain certification through the Arizona Police Officer Standards and Training Board, and they all told the gathering that YCSO had been highly recommended to them. Sheriff Rhodes told the men that YCSO has gained some transfers from places that did not support law enforcement because this county is totally different in its attitude towards men and women who protect public safety. And he also told the new transfers that the agency offers them excellent future opportunities. "You can make whatever you want of your career with us. If you put your mind to it, you can do it," he said.
The Sheriff said the public swearing-in ceremony is important to YCSO because it openly reinforces the agency's top two priorities of protecting Constitutional rights and protecting life. "You are trained, proficient, and motivated to run towards the danger at all times," he said. He also stressed that strong and reliable law enforcement helps keep local communities safe by acting as a deterrent to potential criminal activity, including to those from outside the county who may think they can come to Yavapai and commit crimes without suffering consequences. Sheriff Rhodes has consistently made it clear, as the county's top law enforcement official, that a combination of strong law enforcement along with tough prosecution by the County Attorney's Office under Dennis McGrane has made Yavapai County a place many potential criminals choose to avoid.
