INMATE SUICIDE IN CAMP VERDE JAIL UNDER INVESTIGATION
VERDE VALLEY, ARIZONA (February 24, 2023) – On February 18th at 11 am, a 21-year-old inmate in the Yavapai County Jail was found in a cell unresponsive. The inmate had managed to disassemble jail issued clothing and formed a ligature to restrict his breathing.
Detention deputies administered CPR while waiting for fire and EMS to respond. The inmate was pronounced deceased by EMS shortly after arrival.
The inmate been sentenced to 180 days jail time a Jan 5th for burglary after an arrest by Prescott Valley Police Department in September. The young man was awaiting a bed in a treatment facility when he tragically took his own life.
An investigation is underway.
