YCSO has a new detention sergeant. Lucas Fraser was promoted during a ceremony May 14th before friends, family members and YCSO personnel. The oath of office was administered by Chief Deputy Jeff Newnum, and Detention Services Commander Brent Kimbriel was also in attendance.
Fraser, who is a military veteran, joined the YCSO Detention staff more than five years ago in the training unit. He told the promotion gathering, “One thing I absolutely love about my job here is that we are a team. We work together, build each other up, and have each other’s backs.” He also said he desires to be a role model, mentor, and leader to others, hopefully to train and inspire them to follow in his footsteps.
Fraser thanked YCSO Captain Richard Martin and also his father for being the ones who “got me off the fence to test for Sergeant”, and he thanked his wife, Amber, for being “my rock through all of the ups and downs.” Fraser said, “We all know this is a very stressful job and she’s always been there for me.”
Detention Lt Joseph Lincoln told Fraser, “You fell right into the instructor’s role as a natural teacher, and now you are taking the next step. We need good leaders like you at YCSO.”
