Following a comprehensive investigation and successful prosecution, a New River man has been sentenced to a quarter-century in prison for distributing lethal narcotics within Yavapai County.
In June 2025, Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office (YCSO) deputies from the Special Crimes Unit (SCU) and Partners Against Narcotics Trafficking (PANT) detectives arrested 57-year-old Donald Dean of New River. The arrest was the culmination of a thorough investigation into Dean's operations selling fentanyl and methamphetamine in Yavapai County.
In June 2026, Dean appeared in Yavapai County Superior Court, where he was sentenced to 25 years in prison for his crimes. The sentencing was due to two incidents tried together, along with his extensive criminal history, and he was on release for a separate felony offense at the time.
YCSO remains steadfast in its commitment to protecting the community from the devastating impact of dangerous narcotics. Criminals who distribute this poison to Yavapai County communities will be apprehended and brought to justice. This is a serious crime, and the Sheriff’s Office will continue to track down those responsible and ensure they face the full weight of the legal system.
YCSO extends its sincere appreciation to the YCSO Special Crimes Unit, PANT detectives, the Yavapai County Attorney’s Office, and personnel for their diligent work in stopping the flow of illegal drugs into our county.
