On February 20th, longtime YCSO deputy Ernie Cox was honored at a memorial service at the Prescott VA Cemetery.

YCSO Commander Tom Boelts presented an Arizona flag and YCSO shoulder patch to Ernie's widow, Betty, who also received an American flag during the military honors portion of the service. The YCSO Honor Guard and a US military honor guard were present as well.

Ernie, who passed away in January at age 83, spent 27 years with YCSO beginning in 1975, including as a patrol deputy and detective. He was always recognizable in his beloved cowboy hat.

"We are extremely grateful for Ernie's many years of service with YCSO to the people of Yavapai County. We extend our deepest sympathy to Betty, his family, and his many friends," said Sheriff David Rhodes.
