Man Arrested After Standoff
Man Arrested After Standoff
Published on October 20, 2025
October 19th - On Sunday afternoon, Yavapai County Sheriff's deputies r
esponded to a residence off Sapphire Dr. near Highway 69 for a report of a male yelling on his back porch while holding a rifle.
Upon arrival, deputies attempted to contact the suspect at the front of the home and observed he was wearing a holstered revolver. When the suspect saw the deputies, he reached for his firearm, but it appeared that he was unable to release it from the holster. Deputies responded by drawing their weapons, but no shots were fired. The suspect then retreated into the house and slammed the door.
The situation evolved into a standoff, and the YCSO SWAT team was dispatched as the individual refused to communicate with deputies. Deputies made numerous attempts to contact the suspect by phone, but he was not responding. Deputies confirmed the suspect was well-armed and fortified within the home. Through windows, they could see multiple firearms, including a revolver with the hammer cocked, a shotgun, and boxes of ammunition staged near the front door.
After several hours, and the use of less-lethal rounds, the suspect was safely taken into custody.
The suspect, a male in his 30s, was arrested for disorderly conduct and attempted aggravated assault on law enforcement. The investigation remains ongoing.
YCSO thanks the Prescott and Chino Valley Police Departments for their timely assistance in this matter.
