DEPUTIES AND FIRE EMT’S TEAM UP ON LATE NIGHT SEARCH & RESCUE OF A MAN YELLING FOR HELP NEAR LYNX LAKE.

PRESCOTT, AZ (October 31, 2023) - On early Sunday morning right before 1 a.m., YCSO received a report from a camper at the Hilltop Campground in Prescott near Lynx Lake that they could hear a male in the distance yelling for help.

The first responding Deputy listened for the yells but was unable to hear anything at the time. He then drove to the Enchanted Forest Trail, which was the next road south towards from where the yelling was thought to be coming. He then could hear a faint yell for help coming from the woods and took off on foot towards the voice.

After about an hour of hiking he was able to locate the man, who was hunched over and in pain.  The man stated he had sharp pains in his chest that were shooting down his left arm and he was cold.  The Deputy asked YCSO dispatch to send medical personnel to the closest location for staging, which was off Walker Road.

The man was barely able to stand and was in no condition to walk, so when three additional Deputies responded to the location in the woods, they began taking turns “fireman carrying" the man – in the dark and off trail - to get him to medical attention. He was transported to the hospital in stable condition.
