The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office (YCSO) actively investigated a credible threat made against Dr. Daniel Bright Elementary School. One individual has been detained in connection with the incident. There are no outstanding suspects.
YCSO was alerted to the threat thanks to the vigilance of a parent who reported concerning information found on a child's cellphone. The report allowed deputies to respond quickly and begin an immediate investigation.
While the investigation is on going, out of an abundance of caution, YCSO will have additional law enforcement officers present on campus today, October 1. District administration will also be on-site to provide visible support for students, staff, and families.
“The safety of our children is our utmost priority,” said Sheriff Rhodes. “We are extremely grateful for the swift action of the parent who reported this. It highlights the critical role that community partnership plays in keeping our schools safe.”
The Sheriff’s Office encourages parents and guardians to continue monitoring their children’s cell phone and online activity. If you or your child have any information that could assist in this investigation, please do not hesitate to contact the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office directly at 928-771-3260.
YCSO thanks the community for its continued support and trust as we work to ensure the safety of our schools.
