Agency veteran Chuck Owens has received a promotion to the rank of YCSO Lieutenant and was sworn in by Sheriff David Rhodes in a ceremony attended by co-workers, family and friends.

Lt. Owens, a 28-year military veteran before joining YCSO, spent over a decade as a detective, and also worked in patrol in various parts of the county. He said he originally chose YCSO over other job offers because "this is the premier agency in the county, and it had more opportunities for me." He also pointed to his desire to train others so they can pursue promotions as well.

Sheriff Rhodes cited Lt Owens' "work ethic, ability to get the job done, and steady hand of leadership. It's important to have the right people in the right positions, and he had universal support when it came to this promotion."

Co-workers told the gathering Lt Owens is "known for his hard work and integrity", "he is very dependable and well-respected by those he leads", and "new deputies will greatly benefit from his experience."
