The Yavapai County Sheriff's Deputies arrested a suspect following a traffic stop that resulted in the seizure of a significant quantity of illegal narcotics.

On Tuesday, November 19, 2025, at approximately 4:45 PM, Deputies conducted a traffic stop on a driver around I-17 & Middle Verde Rd. During the interaction, K9 Radar was deployed and positively alerted to the presence of narcotics in the vehicle. A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed approximately 70,000 fentanyl pills that were concealed.

The suspect, Jose Urquianeriz, and another adult in the vehicle were immediately taken into custody.

The suspect had two young children, under 6 years of age, inside the vehicle at the time of the felony drug trafficking.

Urquianeriz was arrested for:

·                Possession of Narcotic Drugs

·                Sales of Narcotic Drugs

·                Transportation of Narcotic Drugs

·                Child abuse

"This seizure represents a substantial amount of poison being removed from our streets," said Sheriff Rhodes. "The fact that a suspect was allegedly engaged in felony drug trafficking with two small children present highlights a dangerous level of recklessness and disregard for life. We are grateful to the specialized unit for their diligence and prompt response to protect the children involved."

The investigation remains active.
