One of the major fundraisers for the Yavapai County Mounted Sheriff’s Posse (YCMSP) is coming up soon. The 70th annual May Roping event will be held at the Prescott Rodeo Grounds, 840 Rodeo Dr, on Friday-Saturday May 10-11. Entry fee is $125.

YCMSP hands out thousands of dollars in scholarships each year to deserving high school seniors who live in Yavapai County. This roping event will raise funds for the 2025 scholarships. More than $600,000 in grants have been awarded since the program began in 1958.

Friday, May 10 will be the “Break Away Roping”, with books opening at 5pm and roping starting at 6pm. There will be two full rounds and a short Round Top Ten Average.

For the Saturday May 11 "Team Roping" event, books open at 8am and roping starts at 9am. There will be a total of four events on Saturday.
