The YCSO SWAT team is the 2024 Sgt Tieman Memorial Bearcat Pull champion after narrowly defeating the Prescott PD SWAT team in the final on April 6 in downtown Prescott. The teams are pictured together here.

Six official teams participated in the competition on South Cortez Street, with all proceeds benefitting AZ Special Olympics. The teams pulled by rope the 20,000-pound YCSO SWAT Bearcat vehicle more than 100 feet in a round-robin competition on what turned out to be a cool, sunny day after some snow fell the night before.

Besides the two finalist teams, others who participated included Blacksheep Rugby, Elan Electric Inc., “Sweaty, Weezy and Thick” from Asphalt Paving & Supply, and Gunsite Ravens. There was also a great team of Granite Mountain Young Marines which challenged a few of the adult teams to some heavy pulling and acquitted themselves very well.

In addition to those who participated, YCSO would also like to give a big thanks to all of the sponsors who helped make the event a success, and special thanks to YCSO Sgt Mike Lewis and the NARTA recruits for all of their help.

The Bearcat Pull honors the memory of YCSO Sgt Tommy Tieman, whom the agency tragically lost in 2023.
