The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office mission is to enhance the quality of life in the county by working cooperatively with the public to prevent crime, enforce the law, preserve the peace, and provide a safe environment through professional education programs aimed at promoting community involvement in various community services and crime prevention education.

The Sheriff’s Office wants you to be safe and comfortable in your home and during your daily activities, whether at leisure or work. Although the department works very hard to create the safest environment possible, it is very important to remember that all citizens play a vital part in crime prevention. Community service is truly a Police-Community partnership. By working together, we can reduce crime and enhance the quality of life.

Search for Missing Humboldt Man Underway

 

Dale Stewart

UPDATE 7 pm, April 15, 2014 — The Sheriff’s Office is saddened to report that Dale Stewart was found deceased just after 4 PM this afternoon – During an air search by Rescue 1, Dale’s vehicle was located in a ravine off of Highway 169 about halfway between Highway 69 and the 17. The Rescue One observer directed deputies to the location and they found Dale deceased inside the vehicle. It appears Dale suffered injuries from a solo vehicle accident – final determination as to cause of death is pending medical examiner results. At this time, it is unknown why Dale was heading away from the Humboldt area – The family was notified immediately following the confirmation by ground crews.

The accident investigation will be handled by the Department of Public Safety.

On behalf of the Stewart family, the Sheriff’s Office appreciates assistance from media outlets and concerned citizens regarding this search effort.

UPDATE 4 PM, April 15, 2014 - Rescue 1 continues to fly and search at this hour. Flyovers by fixed wing aircraft in targeted areas were not successfull in locating any sign of Dale earlier today. Ground crews on ATVs continue their search effort also. Embry Riddle University Aeronautical fixed wing trainers have been notified to keep an eye out while airborne.

Yavapai County Sheriff Promoting 9-1-1 Awareness and Education

April is National 9-1-1 Education Month and the National 9-1-1 Education Coalition, along with the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office, is encouraging public education about the importance and appropriate use of 9-1-1- services. Please take time to review and share the following tips in the attached guide. An understanding of your role when using the system will provide the greatest success in helping our 9-1-1 call takers get the assistance you need as quickly as possible.
