Criminal Investigations

The goal of the Criminal Investigations Bureau is to bring justice to those in our communities who have been victimized, and to speak for those who cannot speak for themselves.

Investigators, Deputies, civilian support staff, and Supervisors assigned to this specialized bureau are able to respond 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, to major crimes occurring in Yavapai County. Each Investigator rotates through weekend duty, and on many occasions, they are called out from their personal time with their families to respond to the scene of a major crime. These are well-trained, experienced individuals dedicated to helping create a safe environment for citizens of Yavapai County, and whose responsibilities include investigating crimes, analyzing intelligence, preventing abuse, apprehending suspects, and testifying in court.

The Criminal Investigations Bureau has the following Specialized Units.

Many cases this Bureau has investigated have been featured on the “America’s Most Wanted”, “Cold Case Files”, and other television shows, gaining national and international attention. Four (4) suspects from our cases are currently listed as fugitives on the “America’s Most Wanted” website. In 2005, a fifth case featured on AMW, involving suspect Gary Lasher, required one of our Investigators to travel to Washington, D.C. twice for televised appearances, resulting in the capture of Lasher in Mexico by U.S. Federal agents.
