The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office mission is to enhance the quality of life in the county by working cooperatively with the public to prevent crime, enforce the law, preserve the peace, and provide a safe environment through professional education programs aimed at promoting community involvement in various community services and crime prevention education.

The Sheriff’s Office wants you to be safe and comfortable in your home and during your daily activities, whether at leisure or work. Although the department works very hard to create the safest environment possible, it is very important to remember that all citizens play a vital part in crime prevention. Community service is truly a Police-Community partnership. By working together, we can reduce crime and enhance the quality of life.

Flood related alerts - Update from Emergency Management

The flood waters have started to recede in Black Canyon City. At 4:30pm this afternoon the Incident Command personnel have determined that the threat has reduced enough to close down operations. The American Red Cross Shelter will remain open until 8:00p.m., with contact information left on the door if additional assistance is needed after hours. Weather alerts will continue to be monitored. The Yavapai County swift water team will remain in the area to assess the river conditions if a rescue becomes necessary.

 

Black Canyon City Fire would like to extend a big Thank You to the Sheriff’s Office, the local Citizen Emergency Response Teams, Mayer and Central Yavapai Swift Water Rescue Teams, American Red Cross, Animal Disaster Services, Yavapai County Public Works, Flood Control, Development Services, Yavapai County Health Department, and the Canon Elementary School for their steadfast response and dedication.

All residents of the River’s Edge Trailer Park have been evacuated safely — Deputies are patrolling the low land areas along to river to ascertain if further evacuations will be necessary. Yavapai County Emergency Management and Flood Control personnel are on scene assessing the situation.

11AM – YCSO is currently evacuating the River’s Edge Trailer Park in Black Canyon City. The park is located near east Perry Buchanan Road and South Shadow Mountain Road adjacent to the Aqua Fria River. Approximately 15 residents are involved and the Red Cross are setting up a shelter at Cannon Elementary School – 34630 School Loop Road in Black Canyon City.  Red Cross is also deploying animal disaster services for those with pets.
